I ordered a phidippus regius (or regal jumping spider) from https://www.arachnamoria.co.uk/ today. They say that the little guy will ship in a few days. I feel kind of lucky because everything went out of stock within 30 minutes.

I’m excited to introduce them to their new home. I’ve been thinking of names and I’ve landed on Baby Godzilla since my partner and I watched Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla 2 a few weeks back and we’ve been obsessed with Baby since then. The spider probably won’t like burgers as much as Baby Godzilla does in the film, but it’ll hopefully like buggers (bug burgers).

I also got a little mushroom for the side of the larger enclosure so that there’s more stuff to jump on, along with a thermometer / hydrometer.

New enclosure decorations

It’s a bit too humid inside the enclosure (you can see the condensation at the bottom of the substrate). Maybe I should have tried to dry out the substrate a little before I put it in? I’ve opened the front door for now to hopefully air it out a little.

Finally, I ordered a heat mat and thermostat. It shouldn’t really be needed right now since the room is a fairly constant 22-25C, but it’ll come in handy during the winter.
