My heat pad and thermostat arrived and I’ve been playing around with them a bit. The sensor for the thermostat doesn’t quite fit into the enclosure neatly so I’m seeing how it fares outside.

Testing with the heating mat below the enclosure, it’s about a 2-3C difference with the thermostat sensor on the outside. I’ve read that you don’t want to put the mat below the enclosure though so I’m going to experiment a bit more with it near the outside walls. It’s pretty neat though.

You can also see in the picture a small flightless fruitfly colony. I’ve got more containers coming so I can maybe split the colony a bit but it should be enough for when the spood arrives. Speaking of which, they come tomorrow morning so I’m excited to finally meet the little guy.
