Locusts

I bought some new food for Baby, small locusts.

They shipped in a small container plastic container, you can see it inside the larger enclosure in the picture above. Whenever I would move the container they would all start jumping around and it sounded a bit like popcorn when they hid their heads on the roof.

I had bought the larger enclosure a little while ago with the intention of keeping some feeder insects in there so this felt like a good time to use it. There’s only really a tiny bit of substrate and their original shipping container in there right now, I feel like I should get something more for them to do.

I gave them a pak choi segment to eat and they started going through it like… well like locusts.

Baby seems happy with them. When I put one in the enclosure it took about 10-15 minutes before he found the locust. Then he spent another 10-15 minutes just staring at it, probably trying to figure out if it’d be tasty. Eventually though he pounced. Hopefully he likes them since I think I’ll keep them as his staple food for now (with the odd mealworm now and then as a treat).
